Daniel Kingery

Treasurer, Board of Directors

Daniel Kingery is a VP, Commercial Lending Officer with Peoples Bank. Daniel has been working as a professional since 2000 and has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Economics from New Mexico State University. Daniel is an active member in both the Tri-Lakes Monument and Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce.

He is married and lives in Highlands Ranch with two daughters that attend Summit View Elementary. In his spare time, Daniel is an avid mountain biker and loves to spend time in the Colorado outdoors. Daniel is excited about the opportunity to give back to the community he lives by serving on the board of Hide In Plain Sight.

John Hedges

Board of Directors

John is an attorney in the Colorado office of Spierer, Woodward, Corbalis & Goldberg, where his practice focuses primarily on business law and real estate. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2013. Prior to law school, he worked as a newspaper reporter, and as a forestry technician for the U.S. Forest Service in Montana. John is a member of Tower Community Fellowship (Church of the Nazarene), and resides in Aurora, Colorado, with his wife Olivia and their two young children.

Laura Reinhold

Board of Directors

Laura Lavender Reinhold is the Director of the Member Service Contact Center at Credit Union of Colorado where she works with a team of member advocates who assist hundreds of people each day. Laura has been a Credit Union industry professional for over 20 years partnering with members to achieve their financial goals. Originally from Texas, Laura earned her Bachelor in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, and her MBA is from the University of New Mexico. Laura has volunteered with a variety of organizations over the years such as Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, CPCD Head Start, and Metro Caring. She encourages those around her to be life-long learners and to make a difference in people’s lives.

Laura was raised in Dallas with a grandmother as a role model, who went to nursing school at the age of 50 after being a school teacher and grocery store owner. Education was a priority in their family, and she shares that priority today with her husband and daughter who is in middle school. They moved to metro Denver in 2014, and they still enjoy exploring Colorado. Laura started volunteering with Hide In Plain Sight in 2017 where she combines her passion for education with helping her community.

Jerry L. Wilford

Board of Directors

A retired supermarket executive, fundraiser, with over 27 years of experience in annual fund, major gifts, capital campaigns, and grant writing. Previous career was with Hy-Vee Inc. for 23 + years. The last sixteen years as an Executive Store Director. Strengths include excellent communication, management and people skills as well as organization, sales leadership qualities. A highly motivated self-starter who fosters teamwork, has proven problem solving abilities, vision and project management experience.

Joseph A. Roos

Founder / Executive Director

Following a 15 year career with IBM in a marketing office in upstate NY, Joe had a 20 year career in the non-profit sector managing foundations and development offices.


In 2015 Joe founded Hide In Plain Sight to follow his passion to help homeless students overcome their adversity and provide opportunities for post secondary education, which in turn, will make these students competitive in the job market, gainfully employed and break their cycle of homelessness.

Amy E. Farnan

Chief Business Development Officer

Amy Farnan brings more than 19 years of fundraising experience to her position with Hide In Plain Sight.  Prior to serving HIPS, Amy held leadership positions at Craig Hospital Foundation, Colorado I Have A Dream Foundation, The Blue Bench, Kent Denver School and University of Denver. Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Colorado.


Dr. Tammy Heflebower

Board of Directors

Tammy Heflebower, Ed.D., has served as an award-winning classroom teacher, building leader, district leader, regional professional development director, and national and international trainer. She has also been an adjunct professor of curriculum, instruction, and assessment at several universities, and a prominent member of statewide and national educational organizations.


Dr. Heflebower was the vice president and then senior scholar at Marzano Research prior to becoming the CEO of her own company, !nspire Inc: Education and Business Solutions. Tammy also specializes in powerful presentation and facilitation techniques—writing about them and sharing them world-wide.


Dr. Heflebower is sole author of the Presenting Perfected book series, lead author of A Teacher’s Guide to Standards-Based Learning and of an award-winning book titled, A School Leader’s Guide to Standards-Based Grading, co-author of Collaborative Teams That Transform Schools: The Next Step in PLCs, and Teaching & Assessing 21st Century Skills, as well as contributing author to over a dozen other books and publications, many of which have been translated into multiple languages and referenced internationally.


Dr. Heflebower holds a bachelor of arts from Hastings College where she was honored as Outstanding Young Alumna and her team was inducted into the athletic hall of fame. She has a master of arts from University of Nebraska at Omaha, and her educational administrative endorsement and doctorate from University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Chad Moller

Board of Directors

Chad Moller is the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for FCC Services. In his current role, Chad is responsible for the organization’s financial leadership, including accounting, financial management reporting, forecasting, annual budgeting, long-range planning, treasury cash management, and internal controls/audit. Chad also oversees all legal, IT, human resources, payroll, and real estate functions for the organization.


A 25-year finance veteran, Chad came to FCC Services from Comcast, where he served as the Vice President of Finance for the company’s $11Bn West Division operation, responsible for the organization’s financial planning and analysis and management reporting functions. Prior to that, he held progressive positions with early-stage telecommunications companies, participating in capitalization initiatives, including M&A due diligence, IPOs, debt financing, and general business planning.


Jan Selinfreund

Board of Directors

Jan Selinfreund has been a top Realtor in Colorado since 1988 and with Coldwell Banker since 2001. She was raised in Minnesota with degrees from the University of Minnesota in Biology & Chemistry, and Environmental Mircobiology. She worked in medical research for CU Med Center for 15 years. 


Her desire to serve her community has included Junior Achievement, Planing Task Forces in Highlands Ranch and the Highlands Ranch Rotary where was president 2016-2017.  She was raised with the attitude that your education was something no one could ever take away from you.


She has been on the sidelines of Hide in Plain Sight since it's inception and is proud to no be on the Board of Directors.


Jeff Webb

Board of Directors

Jeff is a Senior Vice President, Managing Director with Fidelity Investments.  He leads a team of retirement plan professionals that service some of America’s largest institutional retirement plans. He has spent his entire 25 year career in the institutional retirement industry and brings experience in fiduciary oversight, investments and organizational agility.  Prior to the last nine years with Fidelity, he worked for Vanguard in Scottsdale, AZ (6 years) and Merrill Lynch in Littleton, CO (5 years).  Jeff holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses and is a Certified Financial Planner (TM).


Originally from North Carolina, Jeff earned his BSBA from Appalachian State University and a Master of Taxation from Denver University.  Education has always been a priority as he is a strong believer that education is the key attribute that allows individuals to circumvent poverty, develop independence, become self supportive and to integrate as productive members of society.


When not working, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters as well as following Denver Broncos football and playing golf.


Kevin Simpson

Board of Directors

Kevin has been passionate about serving the student community at Pickens Technical College for years. Through his strong community ties and enthusiastic presentation skills, he has been able to assist thousands of students to a better life through vocational education.


He is giving students a hand up, not a hand out through personal life lessons and concrete financial tools that have helped even the most complicated educational story, become one of success. This in turn has enriched the Denver community and beyond with a skilled and educated labor force.

As a Board Member of the nonprofit Hide In Plain Sight, Kevin helps break the bonds of homelessness and poverty through education. Students around the Denver Metro area go from Homeless to Hired. He also speaks on the importance of being a Lifelong Learner by keeping up with the latest in one’s industry as well as continuing to earn the credentials that help employees rise in their current jobs- making more impact and earning higher salaries.


Karen Loucks Rinedollar

Chair, Board of Directors

Karen Loucks Rinedollar is the Founder & Denver Coordinator of Project Linus, a nonprofit that has provided over seven million handcrafted security blankets to children in need of comfort around the globe.


She formed and is the Executive Director of Denver Speakers Bureau which provides professional athletes, Olympians and subject matter experts as professional presenters for conferences and events. Former Oprah guest and author of Working for Peanuts: The Project Linus Story, Karen is a motivational speaker inspiring corporate, nonprofit, educational and healthcare audiences to make a positive difference in our world.

Karen is the Chair of H.I.P.S. and enjoys making a difference in the lives of students and families who need a hand up, not a hand out. She earned her B.S. In Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Maryland and her Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.

Zoe Royer

Board of Directors

Zoë Royer is a writer and activist based in Denver, Colorado. Following a family tragedy during her teenage years, Zoë and her sister were left parentless and without a home. Despite her obstacles, she was one of Hide in Plain Sight's first scholarship recipients.


Rising to the occasion, she graduated from Metropolitan State University with high honors in 2019. HIPS also helped her complete a research project at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

Zoë believes in fighting for a better and more equitable world through building relationships with her community.  She is passionate about social change and hopes to inspire through telling her story and empowering others. As a dedicated leader, Zoë has supported suicide prevention projects, at-risk youth mental health initiatives, and women's non-profits throughout the state of Colorado.


Zoë has been the president of several student organizations, as a social justice honor society. Zoë is looking forward to attending a PhD program and continuing to raise awareness about student homelessness.

Amy Shanahan

Board of Trustees

Amy is the Executive Director for The Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce and has previous experience as a newspaper writer and sales and marketing professional in the high tech industry.


Amy has been an avid volunteer in service of children in-need throughout her adult life, having served as a mentor at Urban Peak in Denver and spending many years working on behalf of The Association for Catholic Childhood in Seattle.  She volunteered as a mentor in various school programs for struggling children in both Denver and Seattle.


Amy is a Colorado native who attended St. Mary’s Academy high school and The University of Colorado, Boulder where she met her husband Bob.  She is most proud of being a mom to three wonderful kids.

Steve Peterson

Board of Trustees

Steve Peterson is the owner/operator of the Christian Brothers Automotive locations in Castle Rock and Lone Tree.  Prior to Christian Brothers Steve spent 30 years starting and building venture capital and private equity-backed companies, primarily in the healthcare sector. 


Steve earned his Bachelor of Business Administration - Management / Finance from Dallas Baptist University and his Masters of Business Administration - Finance from the University of North Texas.


Steve is married and he and his wife (Andrea) live in Castle Rock.  They have two daughters (Megan and Lexi) who both live in Dallas, Texas.  In his spare time he enjoys golfing, bike riding, reading and traveling.
